Where are people at with their writing?

I often wonder - because I'm nosey - what stage are people at with their writing in general?

Are you working on your first pilot, or sketches? Are you waiting for replies from people? Are you you a dab hand having sent off various scripts?

As someone who is waiting for some replies from all sorts of people, as well as being poised to send off my next project, I need to share the frustration of playing the waiting game.

I may or may not re-start my blog to pour out all my fidgetty feelings. But at the moment, they've appeared in the form of this thread.

I am on sketches. I am hoping to have them all done within the next 8 weeks. Then I have to pay someones arse to make them perusable and tidy them up. Then I will be playing the waiting game too.

The waiting games in a way. But i've got ideas and sketches i'm working on.

But I haven't got any inspiration to write at the moment, i know i should but i really can't be bothered. Perhaps it's the rejection i got from an agency, i dunno.

But right now after quering a producer who now works at a production company (they declined a treatment because they had a similar show); they are allowing me to send in ideas.

So, fingers crossed etc.

At the moment the Beeb have my sitcom called "Sunflower Mile" as does a man at Pozzitive television. My sketch show called "Planet Bubble Gum" has been sent to Charlotte at angel eye. I hope to hear soon but hey i've already started another sitcom pilot called "Cracking The crystel" Life just goes on baby

After sending my first sitcom script (not first draft but first sitcom idea) to be anaylised by Marc Blake and the positive feedback I got I started working on a second sitcom along with my writing partner, this script I really really like and when it's done will be sending to everywhere possible, production companies, TV channels etc. And if no one accepts it, will attempt to get it filmed myself.

Also wrote a sketch to be performed by an actress on the London West End (she posted on here a while back asking for writers), she loved the sketch and has sent it in, so hopefully it gets accepted. I have also written a draft sketch show for the same actress, which hopefully will be filmed and passed on to Channel 4. And I've also sent sketches in to that Angel Eye BBC Radio Scotland sketch show.

Would that be Joanna King? She didn't even answer my E-mail, or a follow up E-mail I sent.
Anywhoo, a few things going on. Sent a few sketches to Charlotte at Angel eye, which she seems to like. Trying, trying and trying again to get something commissioned by Radio Wales or Radio Cymru. Have made some in-roads into ITV, various departments.

Currently plotting my sitcom, whilst knocking up sketches and preparing to record some audio.

I'm writing the sitcom for fun at the moment and if it goes well, I'll send it out.

I'm also still practising, trying different styles, like writing for thespoof.com and I was in talks with a possible magazine, not sure what's happening there though?

I am at the stage where I have to force myself NOT to write because of upcoming examinations.

Oh, and being forced to write a comic strip based idea for a friend, who's whole premise is so entirely (18)ish that I don't think it's legal for me to even read the damn thing.

Radio sketch show still at the Beeb (about 8 months - not too optimistic), couple of articles on football someday web site, working on sitcom project, planning to rewrite my sitcom, three novels, etc etc etc and writing this rubbish.

writing about eight or nine projects, articles, stories, CVs, job applications and a request for Car Phone Warehouse to refund my money, which I hope will not garner the same rejection letter as the others.

I'm just writing a diary of my travels which no one will ever read....

Why not? Stick it on here and it could be a best seller.

I have written/scripted three TV commercials to date this year… with a fourth in the pipeline. It’s interesting work… ultra-tight deadlines, budget constraints… client stupidity. Good money though.

With regard to personal work, I’m not writing sitcom, or anything like it at the moment but I am concentrating on my short stories (sci-fi/fantasy). I initially joined this forum because I wanted to see if it would help me in writing dialogue. Now I find I can’t escape!

Radio sitcom pilot finally finished. We're getting first few scenes recorded as a 'training exercise' for a production company, then at least we'll have an audio taster to send around places along with the script.

Five other scripts are in first draft form for the rest of the series. One was chopped to 15 minutes and adapted for four characters on stage and sent to The Sitcom Trials. Heard nothing as yet.

One idea for a TV sitcom looking good, though we need to sit down and thrash out the character biogs and backgrounds before we start writing.

Character sketch show slowly coming along with advent of 'Life & Death' characters and 'Bog-Eyed & Simple' (see the Critique forum for all of these so far) though it's an 'as and when' process for that one.

Sketches when I get chance. A lot have been sent off to Charlotte at Angel Eye. As with everyone else, she seemed to like them but I've heard nothing since. Majority are posted on here and 4laughs but here's the only place they get any feedback!

I am actually doing more than I feel like I do!

Dan

I've written a sitcom pilot which i've given up on as it was rejected by the writersroom, a radio sketch show which i've sent to the production company.

I've have and have had sketches performed on Newrevue (a stage show) and currently i'm writng for a comedian who plays a character. Hes launching his DVD next week outside the House of Commons so if its a slow news day he may get on the TV.

Also I do stand up and am going to try and do it full time.

Man, when you write it down it does seem like alot.
