Re: improv, in music the greatest improvisers are always those with the deepest understanding of their musical choices. I can't see that comedy should be any different.

don't ask questions unless you really have to. Never rely on getting a particular answer: "who hates Big Brother?"

Just concentrate on being funny. Get your shit together. Then you can start messing around.

To be honest, unless you are MCing there should be no real need to ask the audience questions, just get on with the jokes.
