Neanderthal Man. (Is that spelt right).

Yes it is! :O

(Well, the English translation anyway.)

And I'm sorry (well that's a lie actually, but I digress), but Imagine is the biggest load of bollocks that has ever been recorded in "musical" form.

And yes, I'm including the Fast Food Rockers in that.

The man was mildly talented at best. "Macca" ditto, but when they came together they evidently emitted a spark or two (oo er). Truth is, he's been far, far overrated and glorified in death. There's no doubt he had some talent, but nowhere near as much as he is often credited, IMO.

I think John Lennon had some talent but the Beatles were the first rock band that made it big so its hard to criticise as they had no idea what they were doing unlike the ambitious tits that make it today

Again, it's all kind of the same thing to me. Just because they were the first (to really "make it" at least), doesn't actually mean that they were good.

I think, if I'm honest, that Monty Python - certainly Flying Circus - was largely the same. The Beatles of comedy, if you will. They were the first who really made a huge, global impact with that style of humour, and so people look back on them extremely fondly, which is fair enough. But just stand back and look at FC for a moment though. True, there's some absolute f**king brilliance there. Real, undeniable genius comedy at work. But a lot of it is pretty hit and miss really.

Having said that, their post-Python (well, post-FC) exploits cemented them in their place of fame. Perhaps the same would have been said of the Beatles (The Beatles? the Beatles?), had John's murder not overshadowed the group, and the work of the other members.

I'm afraid Aaron that you're talking bollocks!

Lennon and Monty Python were both recognised as geniuses at the time - not just after their death/demise.

Yes - they both produced hit and miss but their misses (not missus) were still a lot better than other people's hits.

It isn't rose coloured memories at all - unlikesome others who I could mention who died young but produced crap.

Now to change the subject I wonder what this smells like?

a) You misunderstand the point entirely.
b) I neither said nor implied that anyway.

Isn't there anyone else out there? I'm fed up playing with myself - even though I've had enough practise.

I'd better go back to writing my sitcom.

Well I am here.
