The last survivor of the Titanic died last night/this morning. Is it just me who feels a bit sad about that? She was only 8 months-ish old when she was aboard, but it's a good job the whole thing was so prolific imho, because otherwise the stories just die.
I thought it was yesterday morning? Perhaps I refresh BBC News too often, feels like yesterday for some reason.
On a slightly related note, my Grandad is currently talking to a student about his experiences in the war. She's doing a journalism course and producing two separate reports on living through the war, so stories are being preserved. Poor girl doesn't know what she's got herself into though, I'm sure he won't shush for ages when talking to her.

But in the last years of her life, she began struggling with monthly bills of £3,000 at her care home and had been in danger of losing her room.
She began selling some of her Titanic-related mementoes to raise funds, and in April a canvas bag from her rescue was sold at auction for £1,500. It was bought by a man from London who immediately returned it to her.
Actors Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, who appeared in the 1998 movie Titanic, also contributed towards her care costs, along with the film's director James Cameron, by donating to the Millvina Fund which was set up by her friends.
This is good. I like to see this sort of thing.
