Why? Is their a seam of comedy gold in Engineering that you think I should tap?

Which one are you in the podcast? How about a link?

Was that how you found an agent?

Hey - I wish!!

Pippa Evans is in it - and I know the producers.

I didn't go to Drama School so my acting and singing is not at the 'west-end' level needed in Showstopper. Plus I'm a plain looking, large breasted, 6ft woman in my 30s so I'm not a Protagonist/love interest/mother type.

I was in 2 performances of Showstopper, both had standing ovations and in both I played the dodgy sidekick to the baddy.

I can sing - but I'm more Aled Jones Choir Boy or Tina Turner.

I can dance - like a typical 6ft, large footed, small eared woman.

I can act - like Miranda:0)

I can smile like Tommy Cooper:0)

Ladies and germs, Vroomboo is a genuine user.

I do come to this forum after exhausting quite a few options.

I just thought having over 30,000 people per day listening to my comedy was indication enough that I have talent. Comedy talent worth investing in.

I took 4 shows to Edinburgh in 2006. 2 of those shows were SELL OUT, with audience refusing to leave at the end, therefore extending the shows to 2hours long. I even made money. The critics hated me.... but audiences paid paid paid and came came came....

...a genuine user? Posh polite insult?

No he's just being helpful Vroomboo. Why not phone round a few agents - talk to their assistants see what advice they can give. Unless it's breath it's usually good to get it from the horse's mouth.

I'm sure there is something that someone can do. A Comedy Mentor, who is willing to use their expertise/contacts and love of all things comedy to get this comedy creation I've made and push it further forward - for the good of all involved and the happy laughing audience:0)

No one will do it for you. There's some great advice in here about what to do, but you will need to do the leg work.

Cool - that's Cool. I will stick with the day job and keep doing all the comedy I can during my free time:0) It's a laugh innit!!!

'Getting an agent' a euphemism for getting someone else to do the leg work?

Well comedians - when you're performing for 30,000 people everyday... belive me - you still ain't made it:0))

Thankfully this is a mountain I still enjoy climbing:0)

What is the next thing you want to do specifically? I listened to a bit of your stuff. You have sponsors on the site. What are your ambitions rather than getting more money for chatting humourously to your friend and broadcasting it. Are you looking to do narrative, written stuff or more stand up for example. Comedy is a big, big field, people will find it easier to give you advice if you nail down your expectations first.

That's a good idea from Griff. Agents do go to things.

No, I'm a writer, not a performer, or performer/writer even; I got mine after a producer sent a script of mine she liked to her agent. I think you tend to need to be reccomended by someone to an agent as a writer, but as a performer you can approach them more easilly yourself. I have a performer friend who got his agent by filming some sketches, putting them on the internet, then showing them around to agents. Someone liked what they saw and signed him up.

That is great advice.

Any of you want to help set up the show with me? I'm great at the funny and competant at organising events - I just struggle doing them both together.

Going from light hearted funny comic to serious business person dealing with publicity/audiences to light hearted funny to day job, to business person...

I need a Producer that knows the business end. Everytime I've done a show where I've produced it - my comedy is weak... I just get knackered.

The times when I just need to show up and be funny - those times the gold seeps out.

I produced a TV Pilot - my comedy was good but I wasn't on top form. The whole cameras, studio, crew, actors all diverted the vital comedy synapses to the serious part of my brain.

There used to be a thing called the New Producers Alliance but I think they have been disbanded due to funding issues. Get in touch with the Screenwriters Workshop they have some info/ideas etc. I used to run sitcom showcases with them - but it was a wile ago. Certainly not hard to get a venue.
