Enjoyed the live BCG blog, cheers to Mark and/or Aaron for providing that. Good work.

Was Mr. Aaron.
Just saw someone who looked a bit like Mark in the background of E4...
Quote: Matthew Stott @ January 22 2011, 11:05 PM GMTNot me, I didn't even watch it, I watched No Country For Old Men instead. It was good.
Good for you. I haven't watched it either.
Of course, several years on the BSG/BCG threads means I'm hardly going to calm down from comment just because I haven't seen it.
I thought it was probably/mainly/scarcely an improvement on previous shows.
In general the awards went to the right/wrong/mixed-up people.
I think x/y/z should have won.
The one thing I can genuinely contribute to is "Best Dr Who". In order, they are Matt Smith; Tom Baker; Christopher Ecclestone; Jon Pertwee; Peter Davidson; David Tennant; Sylvester McCoy; Colin Baker.
I've left out the first two cos I wasn't alive then. And Paul McGann cos you have to do more than one film to count.
It seemed much tighter than previous years.
Cor.
Well done to the winners. I'm pleased Miranda won. In the audience I thought it was nice that Lee Mack looked genuinely pleased for Miranda that from being on Not Going Out she went on to do her own sitcom. You can tell he looked really pleased for her. Another highlight was Roy Clarke. I thought at any moment he was going to break down in tears but he held it all in. An award truly deserved to a very creative writer.
Quote: Nil Putters @ January 22 2011, 7:12 PM GMTAaron would never say "wiv".
Damn straight! Although I notice you let an uncapitalised letter at the start of the sentence slip past...
I thought that one was obvious.
Good night?
Quote: bigfella @ January 22 2011, 9:00 PM GMTThrow a bread roll at Frankie Boyle Aaron, go on!
a) He wasn't there!
b) I like Frankie Boyle.
Quote: Ben @ January 22 2011, 10:33 PM GMTOh wait, didn't they say best comedy film?
They did, yes. I gather that there was a little confusion with this category right from the start.
Re Russell Brand's win, I think that Channel 4 wanted to have something that The Daily Mail could get their teeth into. A big headline grabber. I'm not sure what is allowed out of the voting room; Mark may have further comment on that one later.
My own view: FFS. There's no denying that he's been successful in what he's done, and can be very funny at times, but it's hardly a career that one could describe as long, varied, or really particularly interesting. He's done a small handful of things and done them well. Outstanding Contribution? In the words of Jim Royle, "my arse".
Quote: Nil Putters @ January 22 2011, 11:14 PM GMTWatching E4. zooo, get Mark & Aaron to stand in the window behind Laverne and wave slowly and menacingly.
That would have been fabulous.
Quote: Nil Putters @ January 23 2011, 1:14 AM GMTGood night?
I got free sweeties, and free Coke. So yes, it was a good night!
Quote: Joey Moose @ January 22 2011, 11:20 PM GMTMatt Smith embodies the role in a way that Tennant never did. Far more "traditional" and certainly a continuation of the kind of Doctor that Patrick Traughton, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker played in the early years.
I'm so pleased that my first post here is going to be about Doctor Who (my specialist subject when I go to win Mastermind), but yes, Matt Smith is effing brilliant. David Tennant was great, but Smith, just, wow. He's amazingly intense, and then he can be hilarious, he's got some great comic touches.
Great to read everyone's comments, but do these awards actually mean anything?
Aside from the Brand Outstanding Achievement Award most of the winners seemed pretty deserving. Although as with the Cannes Film Festival awards it does feel a bit like they just randomly shared the awards out amongst the best shows, in order that none went away empty handed.
Except for Miranda getting three.
Most award shows seem overlong and dreary, but this seemed nicely to the point.
