After the first five albums I lost track of the Eels' career. Maybe this latest album can relight my fascination with Mr. E.
It's a strong collection of songs. Saw "them" live for the first time on their recent tour, and wasn't disappointed. Nice, simple but striking visuals too, and lots of humour.
And next to hit the turntable is...
You knew it was coming.
Ok, so it's not exactly challenging, though it might challenge your preconceptions/prejudice to the band.
I think it's a fine album in a "Q" magazine kind of way. Beautifully crafted, and no tracks to skip. Pretty much faultless.
