I bought Metal Box when it first came out - 3 12" singles in a metal cannister. They were a bugger to get out and got scratched so they kept jumping.

It was just such a crap format. Should've been great and the music was brilliant. Maybe try to get it on CD.

Anyway - just turned to the blues and listening to best of Buddy Guy, "Damn right I got the blues" - fantastic.

I bought this years ago and only just got around to playing it.

It really is shit hot!

Just recently bought "The Clash" for the first time ever and it confirmed to me what a load of cack they were (except live. I may have mentioned that I saw them in 1978.)

"Police and Thieves" on that first album is brilliant imo - sounds amazing coming out of a good pair of speakers, turned up loud. I love their first album.

In fact I love all their studio albums, and they're all very different and distinctive, in the same way that the Beatles, Bowie, and the Stones' albums were in their peak eras. (Obviously I'm not including the terrible "Cut the Crap" album after they sacked Mick Jones.)

And you're right, they were fantastic live. The moment they took the stage, it was an explosion of energy and a huge surge of electricity, not quite like anyone else.
