Mockingbird by Barclay James Harvest. OOOOH!

Does anyone here know about the theories of the technicalities of music? Do I favour certain songs because they're in a key I can sing (ish)? I've been told that I have a penchant for music in the devils key but I don't know if that was a wind up because I can't tell the difference...

Can't help you because I'm tone deaf but earlier this evening the neighborhood women were discussing religion and how it had affected their lives (mostly positively but with a healthy amount of negativity) so I tried to lighten the mood by telling a 2-year-old that he was filling himself with Satan when I caught him wolfing down deviled eggs.

I think they are yanking your chain, my musical knowledge isn't great but I haven't heard of a "devil's key". I don't think there is one in modern, 'western' music anyway, but there could one elsewhere in other cultures. Yes, you probably do favour songs that you can sing, (doesn't everyone?).

I think it was E-something... That dischord like in Tartini's Devil's Trill Sonata and in David Bowie's John I'm Only Dancing.
Must learn music.

Hmm. Had a listen and I can't really tell what you are referring to. The most dissonant interval is the tritone, like at the beginning of Rush's yyz. E major, E harmonic minor, E melodic minor? Just to throw some terms at you.

Hmm, will enquire (and probably get laughed at).

That was a bit of a stupid question, only a step away from googling 'that thing, you know, with dooberry', thanks for attempting an answer!

No problem.
