Selfish boys.
I know, whould'a thunk it? Such audacity of them! I mean, how DARE people earn money from their own work?!

Quote: Aaron @ July 20 2008, 7:53 PM BSTI wouldn't mind betting that the vast majority of music acts of all time fit this criteria. You just don't know about it.
The best bands really don't. Only The Beatles managed to be good and manufactured.
Quote: Aaron @ July 20 2008, 7:53 PM BSTSomething catchy and entertaining, you mean? That doesn't have some kind of wanky message to it?
No. I listen to catchy music, stuff that gets stuck in my head for days, but it's just not as bland.
It's personal taste, most people hate the stuff I listen to because it's weird but that's the stuff I like. That's fine. Liking Take That is fine, I'm not going to respect the music taste of anyone who does like them though.
Deacon Blue - Greatest Hits
Dignity is one of my favorite tracks of all time
and
When Will You Make My Phone Ring has special memories for me

I never complained about that. I complained about them lying.

Oh well. Au revoir then PhQnix.
*cries alone in a corner*
Quote: zooo @ July 20 2008, 7:55 PM BSTWhere's the line of respect? Do they have to have formed in college, and not been introduced by a mate, but have known each other for a minimum of 15 years and grown up within a 10 mile radius of each other.
They have to have got together for the purpose of making music, not making money. There are probably a bunch of bands who I like who barely knew each other when they were formed but they aim to make music not money.
So anyway, is it good for McFly to be lying on national radio?
Knife crime can only be next for them.
Where's your proof that McFly got together to make money rather than music?
From every interview I've ever seen they seem pretty obsessed with creating their music.
Your'e just prejudging them! At least admit it.

You have to understand, PhQnix that the casual music fan isn't fussed about those sorts of things. I don't like Radio 1 music, but you just have to accept it's always gonna be there.
McFly only just got on the radio 1 playlist with this new single.
I was surprised too! I thought they were well radio 1.
Who is your source?
Answers, please, Zooo.
Why on earth would you want to give away your new album with a newspaper anyway? Seems a bit odd to me. Yes, its publicity and perhaps gets you out there to a lot of people who wouldn't normally buy your stuff, but I'd feel pretty ashamed to be giving it away with a paper.
As for 'real bands', if you play your own instruments and/or write your own songs, you're real. If you do neither of those things, you're not. That''s what I think anyway. Take That I would say are, because they, or at least one of them, is a proper song writer. Same with McFly.
They've been interviewed on EVERYTHIMG lately. I got all my current McFly information off the telly this week.
I think they probably gave it away as it's a guaranteed wedge of cash from the paper AND they must be nearing their sell by date now. I doubt McFly made this decision solely by themselves.

I accept it. I don't have to care for it or pretend to respect though, do I?

I am prejudging them. But they toured with Busted and Lil Chris. Even if they make there own music they're involved in this scene which is devoted to manufacturing bands out of average musicians, promoting mediocrity and banality ahead of talent and passion. Even if they are a talented band of musicians (very doubtful) they're supporting a bunch of poseurs who aren't any good.
