The happy Monday's were just a bunch of dickheads off a council estate who somehow managed to put a band together and get a deal with Factory

One of these lot couldn't actually play anything or write anything but they said f**k it, you can just cock about on stage when we play

I think that 'we don't give a shit' attitude is pretty cool

I'd rather groups of nobheads like that making interesting music than the f**king tedious insipid boring wankers around today

I did wonder if Bez actually got paid anything or he was just happy to be there.

Tony Wilson was a dick. Wanted to be Malcolm McLaren but didn't have the acts.
Excerpt from 'Last Interview With Tony Wilson', the last Tony Wilson interview:
'Manchester was Manchester and it was Manchester and Manchester was Manchester. And out of Manchester there came this city - Manchester - and this band - Joy Division. There couldn't have been Manchester without Manchester, or Joy Division, and I thought, F**k - this is Manchester, right? So let's - let's just have... Manchester. And that meant Joy Division, who became New Order - yeah, Manchester meant New Order too right? Gonna shoot me? Never shoot people, that's the fundamental rule of television. Never shoot. Just Manchester, New Order and New Order. And I'm like, on the telly, so I'm like, Yeah, let's put Manchester on the telly. And Joy Division, and New Order. Gonna shoot me? I mean Hey, I'm Tony Wilson, this is Manchester, this is New Order.'

Not that I wish to upset the apple cart as I genuinely like Partridge and I loved New Order, Hacienda etc - I am not in conflict with the late Tony Wilsons of this world and even appreciate their maverick quality - but there is quite a lot of what Michael says which makes sense to me. Here is the controversial point. I don't mean to upset fans or the people involved but I was watching an interview on stage between Armando Ianucci and Steve Coogan and I reckon they are like the living Tony Wilsons. It is all a bit "moi" whereas people like Kenny Williams were all a bit "me" and that is what I am.

A bit "me" rather than a bit Kenny. I prefer the mes to the mois as I would do being a me myself which is neither a great thing nor an awful one. It just is. For the record, I see McLaren and Lydon as having been between mes and mois so actually more attractive than mois although both being Aquarian (and me is an Aquarian ascendant), they fought like ferrets in a sack by being too peculiarly similar and one can do without such aggro can't one. They were best combined. I do do nuances. Nuances is what I do do. That is why I am the crazy man I am. I know my vibes because I know nothing else. Bez? On his own planet, love him. I saw a lot of nice nudes on their stage. Then he single handedly f**ked fracking.

Brilliant!

Malcolm Mclaren - Madam Butterfly : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JN8o8-ZK5s

The fantastic thing about this one other than it is glorious is that it is pretentious but utterly from the roots of his soul. It is a veneer in an artistic sense which he knew and created and yet it isn't a veneer of him. It is what he was. I liked him.

Let's let in the ladeez, Viv W is between moi and me too. Sorry luv, you so want to be a moi but you are "me-ish" luvlier.

That's Interesting. Some see McLaren as the Mastermind behind the Pistols and an avant-garde boff with his free finger on the pulse. I see him as a c**t.

Haha. Yes. Very good. You do realise, I susspose, that your process is so well-intentioned in being extreme that while it doesn't quite invigorate those of us who feel permanently bashed in the so-called normal ok world by 9 year old girls in old women's clothes it does give us something positive to cling on to in agreeing with or ralllying safely against. I used to think you were a permanently negative pushdown. Now I think you may be extremely psychologically sophisticated and among the most loving people on the computer net as behind the dark side the sun shines golden and almost religiously from your behind. What I am guessing is that you would want me to say c**t although I would have to add loveable to it.

Ain't this just a weird dynamic, Mick?

Rewarding, though,. I know the Old Kent Road is not your turf but it was rewardin' as soon as I passed your seat of dulcet tones down at the old Dog and Duck. As you'll know by now, as a bit individual mesel', I wos always community minded.

I love the fact someone felt the need to transcribe these lyrics, in case you miss something. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4rumvGQHRu0

Musically I didn't think much of McLaren or the Pistols, but The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle is good fun.

The GRRS is bollocks and a total negation of everything the Pistols stood for. Embarrassing.

I bow to your knowledge of talking bollocks.

I have to agree

Hate every single second of it

I was really shocked by the scene where Steve didn't get his cock out.

Ah well we can't all be right :)
