What are you listening to now? Page 1,283

I hadn't heard We All Stand Together since it came out in 1984 until today when I read it was being used on Britain's Bake Off and I googled it. I always thought it was a bit too similar to Edelweiss in places. That kind of similarity would cause courtroom havoc these days I'll wager.

This is the full video which I just watched even though Rupert The Bear is as enjoable as the crippling stomach cramps from eating burnt sausages. Give him a Viz slant and you might have something.

Good pick Tarby. I can just hear John Lennon saying "Over my dead body ".

Just heard the new Stereophonic single, love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo5gI3sZ4A4

When I was at school we used to sing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQqK-1_YeZ0 as POOpert, POOpert the PEAR. It was hilarious! I was 18.

Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen.

Great Geri Halliwell quote: 'I'm proud of Spice because we destroyed stereotypes. As a woman, you were always compartmentalised - people saw you as one thing and that was it. We were like, Hey: I'm complex, I won't be limited, I won't be viewed on the basis of just one superficial aspect...' That's right, Ginger. I'm sure Sporty, Scary, Posh and Baby will bear this out.

Anniversary of Elvis' death. I love Elvis cos he never let his standards drop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGTdsCEKvEY

30th anniversary of New Order's 'Substance'. It aimed to compile all their 12" singles, but the track allocation was quite random. In fact, if you compare how the songs were spread across UK / US vinyl / cassette / CD formats, you should get out more.

Introduction to Spirit.

Fresh Garbage is great but the song of theirs I remember best is Dark Eyed Woman.

Spirit is great. Discovered them quite recently (3 or 4 years ago) when I bought The Family That Plays Together and Doctor Sardonicus dirt cheap at the flea market...don't know why it took me so long to finally listen to their music. Now I have two more albums and two comps by them.

Going left, right - Department S.

One of the most under-rated post punk bands.

I spent years wondering what this was after hearing it in the 90s until I finally heard it on the radio and everything came flooding back. Those lips are also the best lips ever and if you know of better lips then please let me know.

Cool video from yesterday's eclipse. Ozzy takes the stage in sunlight, and as he performs 'Bark at the Moon' the skies darken and they lighten back up by the end of the song. That would have been fun to experience.

Any clues?

doh sorry, I thought it would link through to the youtube page but it doesn't. Its Song To The Siren by This Mortal Coil with Elizabeth Fraser. I thought I would never hear it again until I heard it again.

I saw these two at MY first Otway Convention in 2015.
