I'm going to post a few versions of "Dancing in the Moonlight" because until yesterday I was foolish enough to think it was a (strangely familar) sounding Toploader original. This is the original which was quite big in the US:

King Harvest - Dancing In The Moonlight - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5JqPxmYhlo

No. I remember the original well - plus a version by Liza with a Zed.

I'm having a New Order blitz. Just listened to Low Life - possibly my favourite album ever - and now Blue Monday on Substance 1987.

I hadn't realised that True Faith never appeared on a normal album, just compilations.

Or possibly a couple of QPR players from the 1970s. :D

Fun fact, England Dan (on the right...I think??) is the late Dan Seals, whose older brother Jim was the Seals of Seals and Crofts (Summer Breeze) fame.

Yes - I've got Substance.

Philip Parkes and Stanley Bowles.

:D

I think Will Cam should be the final judge as a Hoops fan.

You certainly know your Seals & Crofts.

These Scottish guys are new to me. Pretty basic stuff, but their conviction and energy carry it off.

Steely Dan - Do It Again

That really is a classic song as well as Reeling in the Years which if I remember rightly weren't hits but really should've been. Funny the way the music market changed.

Only single of theirs I bought at the time (and still have) is Haitian Divorce / Sign In Stranger. Got the album Pretzel Logic a few years ago. I remember it got rave reviews from the music press when it was released, and was Album of the Year. Think I'll buy one of their Greatest Hits albums some time soon.

In what way specifically did you have in mind?

Buy the individual albums. I've got compilations too.

Singles that would've been hits 10 years later were overlooked by stuff like the Chapman/Chinn stuff. American "superstars" never got hit singles in the 1970s but after Michael Jackson and MTV came then hit singles became more universal.

You're the Voice-John Farnham

I Pity The Fool-Bobby "Blue" Bland

What Kind of Fool Am I-Sammy Davis Jr

The Inner Mounting Flame by the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

I recently bought a box set of their first 5 albums so having a bit of a blitz now.

Not for everyone though.
