Yes - a good observation and he is very good with a lyric. I've posted the following two before but they are worth posting again. They lean more to country but he is very wide-ranging in musical style.

The story on this one is that traditionally when I went to Glastonbury I made a point of getting up for the first act on a Sunday morning on the main Pyramid Stage. It has a very unusual and quite special atmosphere. Only a few hundred people as everyone else is still sleeping off Saturday night excesses.

As I got older, it was a great way of feeling that I wasn't just keeping up with the younger ones but able to hack it more easily than many. Anyhow, it is normally something very odd at that time which makes it special. I've seen orchestras, brass bands, opera, and Gilbert "Nothing Rhymed" O'Sullivan.

But one morning the planned thing didn't happen and they stuck on this guy instead. Initially there was disappointment but he was brilliant live and I think the mighty Waterboys may have followed him.
