And so to the last three this Saturday:
JD Souther, actor, singer and musician, is 67. He was John Dunaway in the TV drama "thirtysomething" and Ted in the film "Postcards from the Edge". He wrote songs for Linda Ronstadt. And he is also the composer of some of the best loved songs by the Eagles including "Best of My Love" and "New Kid in Town".

Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention and also Jethro Tull is 66. Ashley Hutchings has credited Pegg with being the musician who began the technique of playing jigs and reels on the bass, rather than just a supportive bass line, which was subsequently adopted by most electric folk bassists and even folk punk bassists.

And kd Lang is 52 today. Lang is noted for her sexual orientation and how she managed to succeed in the country music genre which is not exactly known for its liberalism. Roy Orbison helped her in popularity there. But there is a strong argument that she is the most technically gifted woman singer of her generation.
