Good stuff!
I can now report back that the new Israel Nash album, "Rain Plans", is fantastic, and a must for Neil Young fans circa "After The Goldrush" & "Harvest".
Also, as a live performer he is mind-blowingly good with his full band, who are some of the best musicians I've ever heard.

What a pair of oddities.
How did you dig those up?
"The Beverly Hillbillies" was one of those programmes I watched as a kid simply because it was on. I don't even remember particularly enjoying it. Unlike stuff like "Bewitched", for example, which I loved.

Granny Clampett, "a singer", was mentioned very briefly on the radio this morning. It was an odd sort of programme but then it always is. There were no details but it was enough to make me wander onto You Tube. Once there, I recognised her immediately. I am in line with you on the Beverly Hillbillies but those two leapt out and I couldn't resist them. I can't imagine what state of mind Berry Gordy was in on the second. Thanks for the Polica link which I quite liked and the IN(G) tip. That does sound like a very good album.

I'm not totally won over yet, but I was intrigued enough to buy tickets today for their UK tour next year. They're supposed to be at their best live.
The line-up is a bit different with 2 drummers, bass, singer, keyboards, but no guitar.
I preferred their second song on Jools, and remembered liking them when they made their debut on the show.
Possibly (maybe unfairly) the vocals are a bit ordinary, or lack character, compared to say The xx, Daughter, or Tracey Thorn.
I've got a feeling they're going to grow on me though.
I'm enjoying the Dismemberment Plan's first new album for 12 years. It's a grower.

I saw them live as supporting act for Pearl Jam in 2001.

Listening to Bellowhead's Hedonism DVD. I don't generally buy music DVDs, but Bellowhead are so vibrant live that the DVDs are very often in my player.

The sound of pipe and slippers, Jim Reeves, was born on this day. So too controversial drag queen Divine.
But the final birthday clip is of a dope smoking agitator who was not only one of reggae's finest but also, weirdly, an extremely good unicyclist. In memory of Peter Tosh - 19 October 1944 - 11 September 1987:
