Queen Camilla?

When Charles married Camilla, the public were told she would not be queen when he became king. We were told she would become Princess Consort.

In today's newspapers, Charles is reported as saying she 'might' become queen.

The truth, however, is that there's no 'might' about it.

When Charles becomes king, in that very instant Camilla will become queen.

That is quite simply the law - no ifs, no buts, no maybes - and it will take an Act of Parliament to change it.

When are the establishment going to tell us the truth?

I hope this isn't keeping you awake at night.

I hope this isn't keeping you awake at night.

I slept like a log last night.

I must have done - I woke up in the fireplace this morning. :D

Camilla will technically be queen, the issue is the title she will adopt.

She'll be queen and it will bring down the monarchy.

The rabble will storm Westminster Abbey and the royals will be torn to shreds in a pro-republican bloodbath.

It's no worse than they deserve.

Except Harry, of course.

I like him.

But then, he's not royal.

She will and I strongly doubt it.

There is some precedent for having a royal consort who is not a queen.

Redbuga, the wife of Egbert, founder of the West Saxon dynasty which went onto unite England, was known simply as the' wife of the king'. The title of 'queen' had been abolished after his predecessor Beorhtric was accidently poisoned by his wife, in an ill-fated attempt to eliminate his homosexual lover.

A constitutional crisis arose when Egbert's son Aethelwulf, returning from pilgrimage to Rome, took as his second wife the Frankish princess Judith. During the wedding ceremony the French bishop crowned the twelve year old Judith. This caused outrage back in England and on his return Egbert was deposed by his eldest son Aethebald.

Aethelbald could not have felt that strongly about it though, as on his father's death he married Judith himself, and the issue of her title seems to have been quietly dropped.

Yeah, but that's not proper history is it!

Anything before 1066 doesn't count.

Cnut!

:)

Well quite. :)

Who cares if she's the flipping Queen?

Who cares if she's the flipping Queen?

Millions of people who loved Diana and who know she'd be alive today but for Charles and Camilla's affair?

I think her drunk, speeding driver owns a tiny little bit of the blame for her death.

Lol. I don't think there are that many people who either think that, or could care less.
Charles was in a loveless marriage, now he's remarried and they're both happy. Good luck to them!
