Hmm, see, take out the politics and no one wants to talk about her :O

But I will watch that new show of hers, one episode at least. Than I can give my better informed opinion of her. :)

Wait, what new show? What have I missed?

She has a radio show, I don't think she has a telly show.

Probably nothing but I thought she's been given a new show? ?
Or Mr Kipper consufed that with someone else again, it does happen, I'm told.

Ah that's what I thought.

She's not my favourite stand up, but she's great on 7 Day Sunday.

Sarah Millican is, IMHO, one of the funniest acts on the circuit, be they male, female, haemaphrodite or sexless.

I don't think her comedy has any particular gender bias, certainly no more so than the plethora of male stand ups who do wanking jokes and go on about Star Wars or smoking drugs.

She's quick, funny and has an infectious laugh, she also brings out the best in others around her (which makes her ideal for panel games and talking head type shows), she's also worked her way up the comedy ladder from doing the rooms above pubs to now selling out large theatres. (Unlike, for example, Ricky Gervais whose celebrity meant he could miss out all the hard graft and fast track himself so that his first stand up gig was at the Bloomsbury Theatre!)

I, personally, don't see what's not to like, but hey, comedy is subjective.

No bitterness there then, Tony. :)

haemaphrodite

Bloody bisexuals!

Yeah they want it both ways, selfish gits.

To be honest, no, not really, I actually quite like Ricky and think he's funny, although his live shows get progressively less funny in my opinion.

I just wanted to point out that whatever you think of Sarah Millican, she has worked her way up through the ranks, as it were, and really grafted to get where she is now rather than being handed it all on a silver platter, which is an accusation that could be leveled at several male comedians.

Sarah and Ricky both deserve their TV exposure as stand-up comedians and all the money that goes with it.

Watch either of them and it's easy to believe (no matter whether it's true or not) that they wrote every word of their first-class scripts themselves and that every word comes straight from the heart.

In stark contrast, I've watched Andi Oshi on TV delivering a stellar-quality script and it was like watching Denise Royle read Shakespeare. The words came out in the right order but it was uncomfortably clear that they weren't her own words and it was equally clear she had absolutely no idea how wonderful they were.

Some people deserve their places at the top: others most certainly don't.

She has a radio show,

Sarah Millican's Support Group which is very good.

But it rather supports the women in comedy stereotype that she chose an agony aunt format. Contrast this with the range of topics tackled in, say, Chris Addison's Civilization or Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation.

But then as Byron said "Man's love is of man's life a thing apart, 'tis woman's whole existence."

Sounds a bit intellectual for Rob... was he saying it in his Anthony Hopkins' voice?

Oh, Byron... sorry.

Sarah Millican is to join the regular panel on ITV1's Loose Women.

She broke the news when she appeared on the show today, saying: 'I'm so excited to be getting my name on a Loose Women mug, it's already on order.'

And she said that when she texted a friend that she was 'officially a Loose Woman', the friend 'thought I'd split up with my boyfriend'.

The 35-year-old, who won the if.comedy best newcomer award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008, will join the lunchtime show in January, when it returns from its Christmas break.

She will be joining panellists including Coleen Nolan, Denise Welch, Carol McGiffin and Lynda Bellingham on the show, which attracts an audience of around 1.3million each weekday.

Millican - whose TV credits include Michael McIntyre's Roadshow, Have I Got News For You and Live At The Apollo - will also be on tour next year, with he latest show Chatterbox.

Admittedly Sarah is a fan of Loose Women, so isn't 'selling out' I can't help but be disappointed. I don't want to have to associate my current comedy hero with such utter daytime toss :( It is a sad night in the Wicks house.
