Hi all
First post so go easy on me!
So, I finally got off my arse and wrote a "hilarious" sitcom script (yes, I know, you've heard it all before). I've always wanted to write something but never got round to it. My idea is fairly simple, but has a unique backdrop which I hope could get it noticed. I'm a complete novice when it comes to writing, but I've always (probably incorrectly) thought I could write something that could appeal to the masses.......
My wife is the only person so far to have read the script and she actually cried with laughter (for the good I believe). I understand she may hold some bias to my work so I am looking for someone else to give it the once over who isn't financially dependant on me.
I was originally intending on submitting the script to the BBC Writers Room, but on reading many posts on this very forum I realise this may not be the correct route for my work for two reasons. Firstly they are mainly looking for writers not projects, and secondly my work would possibly suit Channel 4/E4 over
the BEEB.
So I have a few questions that I would be grateful if someone could answer honestly?!
1) If I send my script to the BBC (and they hate it), am I still free to send it elsewhere? Or is it "marked" dead and no other bugger will touch it?
2) What other options are open to me? Are there any other avenues I can explore/avoid?
3) Does anyone have Ricky Gervais's mobile number?
Thanks for any input, and please don't burst my bubble - it's nearly Xmas.
