It's a rum do. Global too. The Washington Post recently refused to run this lame Non Sequitur cartoon:

Congrats Kenneth, you've just killed us all.
The BBC is driving me nuts. So all satire shows will have to be heavily censored and edited from now on. And I take it they've pulled the new series of Rev?!! How the hell is a series that sends up the modern day Church of England going to comply with their new rules!
They are weak minded cowardly idiots infested with liberals who prize their fancy Oxbridge degrees and dream about helping create a new open and cosmopolitan Britain, but who haven't even the emotional intelligence to realise that some, nay, many of the peoples they want to embrace, DO NOT WANT THAT THEMSELVES!!! Clear all the liberals out of Broadcasting House, a crude bomb made from chipati flour ought to do it. They are ruining our pretty decent, solid but free spirited, free minded British culture. They make me spewwwwww!
You are going to die young of a stomach ulcer. CALM DOWN!
(projectile vomit)

I suspect this latest ruling has less to do with "liberalism" than hard headed realism. We live in an environment where cuts cuts and more cuts are on the agenda. The BBC, fearful of doing anything to anger a government who might decide to slash the license fee, are therefore becoming afraid to rock the boat.
I'm the world's biggest cynic but I can't help but assume that these new rules will allow them to continue avoiding any criticism of Islam while continuing to throw thinly veiled jabs at Christianity.

I've just told you what they're about, DaButt! Keep up!

Stress doesn't cause ulcers, it's a bacteria which is responsible.

Dabby I alluded to exactly this in above post, please keep up Rev is just that, a gentle dig at Aglican Christianity. The hypocrites at BH have ordered a new series merely days before issuing this profoundly stupid edict. The Beeb is a very confused adolescent like creature, given to dreaming up idealistic crap without thinking it through. Morning/Evening.
I am not sure I would describe Rev as a dig at Anglican Christianity. I would imagine many Anglican priests would find it familiar and sympathetic.
Rev also pretty clearly falls into "editorially justified", imho.
What I'm wondering is whether the kinds of blanket digs about the idiocy of religion Jimmy Carr seems to be increasingly frequently making on 8 Out Of 10 Cats would pass the Beeb test.

Is there really a hunger to produce anti-Islamic comedy? A hunger that's being quelled? For example, the great and good of the BCG are hardly cramming Critique with scathing attacks upon Islam.
Aaaaaaaaaargh!!!! My stomach!
