I wasn't really suggesting the ending just noting what I expected. I think the humour is in the brute response to the attempt at intellectual one-upmanship. The pendant thing probably detracts from that if anything by implying a greater degree of understanding on Conan's part. So, cleverer - possibly; funnier - no.
