What's The Best Accent For Comedy Page 2

oh common.
Give some examples for each accent, and not from some obscure local programmes, either!

I do actually like the Aussie accent in comedy. Although (no offence to aussies) i actually can't stand the whiney Aussie women accents that go up at the end of every sentence. It's very frustrating.

And they call us Whingin' Poms! :O

That's why I love Kath & Kim.

Actually I think the Latvian accent is the best for comedy.

Okay i will agree: Kath and Kim is very funny...especially when you actually understand the Aussie references a bit better!!

Check out this great British dialect translator - as well as being useful, it's hours of fun:

David Chapman, you're a mean, mean fella an' oi ain't playin' witcha naw more!

Seriously. I know (rather heard) that Lister is Scouse. What about dinnerladies? What about The League Of Gentlemen?
I can distinguish only the most common accents, and I'd rather learn more :)

To answer the question - any British accent is music to my ears, especially in comedy.
However, I first need to understand what they're saying - a feat not easy, if it's Only Fools And Horses and dinnerladies, and impossible, if it's Still Game. Therefore I find posh accent sometimes so refreshing ;)

Sorry WrongTale. You led me into it but really I've got no idea what it sounds like.

I do like Finnish though. (who said "why don't you then?")
