Chris Welch single reviews in Melody Maker

Does anyone of a similar age to me remember these in the 1970s?

In those days there were "Singles acts" and "Album acts" and hardly ever did the twain meet. Melody Maker had a page to review the new singles and after the title of the record and name of the act Welch would go rambling on about anything other than the record in question - often telling fairy stories. At the time of course we thought this was hilarious because we were all pretentious twats.

I just wondered iof anyone had any examples. I've tried Googling but come up with nothing.

I rather like it when a critic takes leave of their senses. Notable examples include Roger Ebert reviewing the Garfield Movie as Garfield the cat and a football column a friend forwarded me that was, for some inexplicable reason, written in the style of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.
