Hi all,
I've written a script I'm very happy with and am looking to get it out there. Are there any online resources with a list of agencies that work with sitcom writers?
Also, any list of production companies that take unsolicited scripts would be useful.
Thanks in advance!
Neil
Getting an agent
I suggest you confer with rwayne about these issues... oh, he's not online at the moment - how disappointing.
Welcome to the site. Have a look at the pinned thread at the top of this section, to get some advice and tips. Bound to be something in there to answer your initial queries.
I'd read all the relevant threads
But generally agents won't bilk you of your percentage till you can show you can earn on your own
Oh and don't pay an agent upfront
There's a thing called the Writer's Handbook - comes out every year.
All the agents are in there.
It's a thankless task and one of a series of Catch-22 situations you will find yourself in if you're serious about this business.
Best of British.
Thanks for your replies and advice. I've got the Writer's Handbook but was hoping there was some resource specifically for sitcoms to avoid millions of hours of pointless phone calls.
Nope.
Just make sure they handle Film & TV.
Or, with a bit of elbow grease you could research your favourite writers of your favourite shows and find out who represents them.
It's a start.
EDIT
And it's unlikely to be phone calls - it'll be query letters.
Generally, I think, they prefer you to come with a referral from a producer, that's how I went about it. There are probably other ways, I dunno.
