Life's Too Short Page 11

I'm too young!

Do. It. Now. Fool.

How old are you?!

Having never seen The Office

the subtle stuff, Warwick falling out the Range Rover

Have to say I preferred Rev!

I'm not quite sure you understand what "comedy" is BigFella.

Are you sure you're on the right forum?

Also it won't help G&M's reputation either, I shouldn't think. Bands who keep making the same album quickly lose kudos.

Quite like the idea of Gervais &Merchant as the Parfitt & Rossi of comedy.

As I said before, I am semi gay for Gervais and Merchant but I thought the first episode was shite. Warwick was over egging his role, Ricky and Steve sucked the funny out of every scene and it took a man who has never done comedy before to save it.

Must do better.

I didn't think it was very funny, there was no story that I can recall and Warwick came across like a little, bland version of David Brent. But apart from that it was alright! I've only seen a few minutes of Curb, but it seemed like it was influenced by Curb. It reminded me a bit of The League of Gentlemen, like a cross between a sketch show and a comedy drama.

It also seemed a bit like an unofficial continuation of The Office, with Warwick taking over as Brent as a struggling celebrity.

Hopefully it was just setting up the rest of the series, like Stott said, though I thought Gervais and Merchant were under used, I wanted to see a lot more of them. I'd especially like to see Merchant in a role that showed off his talent as well as his character in Portal 2.

On a sidenote, is Derek Noakes for real, and is that atheist in heaven sitcom still happening?

Yawn.

Yes, Warwick played a version of David Brent...

That was their intention, to get us saying in chatrooms he's playing David Brent.

And we're still doing it!

Shall we move on?

Everyone is entitled to air their thoughts, Tim.

I don't know, shall we? The Brent thing was one pont among several, you're the one who's made it just about Brent, so you're more guilty of what you're accusing me of than I am. You could have responded to one of the other things I said, but chose not to.

And I wasn't just saying he's playing David Brent, I was expanding on the point by alluding that Warwick's persona was much less charming or charismatic than either he or Gervais have shown themselves capable of before. And that it seems like an unofficial series 3 of The Office, but done in a way that escape some of the weight of expectation.

Conversatons with you must be pretty strange if no-one's allowed to discuss anything that's previously been mentioned, but c'est la vie.

I'm not sure about that. BCG would be a much nicer place to be if you cracked down on people airing their thoughts.

It's not a criticism of Vader's criticism. It's just that everyone should have got this 'Warwick Davis' is 'David Brent' thing now. Do we all need to keep saying it?

We don't need to, no, but if a newcomer to the discussion sees that similarity and wishes to make the point...

This is so ironic, you're going round in circles and you're causing other people to go round in circles as well. One last time, I was expanding on what had been said before by making the points that it was a bland performance by Warwick and it's like an unofficial series 3 of The Office, with a dwarf as a lead and Ricky and Stephen as supporting actors to throw people off the scent. So not the same thing as had been said before at all, it's just that you missed the point.

And you've said the same thing in each of your last 2 posts, how many people had even mentioned Warwick as Brent before my post, three? All different people, not the one person saying the same thing more than once. You might want to stop digging now. ;)

What's wrong with doing a second mockumentary?

It's called versatility and if G+M really had some, they would be doing something different instead of this. They did try to make a 'serious' non-mock feature film which was nothing special.

The guys that did 'Spinal Tap' did quite a few 'mocks' over the years with various success. Some were good and some weren't but ultimately none of them were ever as good.
