New skit. Batman.

Hey folks, it was suggested that I'd gain from posting here at pre production, so, thought I'd have a pop.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

INT. LOCATION. COUNCILORS OFFICE. DAY.

We're inside of a relationship councilors office.

Batman and the Joker are having counciling session.

The councilor sits in a brown leather swivel chair, whilst
Batman and the Joker sit on a sofa.

MEDIUM CLOSE UP: COUNCILOR.

COUNCILOR
So guys, feel me in, what's been
happening.

MEDUIM CLOSE UP: JOKER AND BATMAN.

JOKER
We're just not talking anymore doc
and when he does say something, I
can hardly hear it! And well, he's
got so dark and moody these
days, it's like I don't know who he
is anymore.

BATMAN
I don't know what your talking
about! I haven't changed at all!
I'm the batman.

JOKER
And why do you feel the need to
repeatedly say your name at the end
of sentences. I know who you are.

PAN TO: BATMAN/ HEAD.

BATMAN
I'm the batman. I'm always the
same, a constant reminder to
gothams gritty criminal
underbelly, that if you mess with
the law, a guy in a rubber
suit will come down and kick your
ass!

CLOSE UP: JOKER.

JOKER
Whatever! You don't look the same,
you don't talk the same! it's like
there's a different person behind
that cowl everytime I see you!

MEDIUM CLOSE UP: BATMAN AND JOKER.

BATMAN
Your being ridiculous!

JOKER
See! who talks like that! (Mimics
Batman)Your being ridiculous!
surely that makes your throat sore.

MEDIUM CLOSE UP: COUNCILOR.

COUNCILOR
Ok guys, if we could wind it in for
a second and let's take a look at
how this makes Batman feel.

MEDIUM CLOSE UP: BATMAN AND JOKER.

BATMAN
I don't like it when he makes fun
of my voice, it's gravelly nature
helps strike fear into the hearts
of gothams criminal underworld.

JOKER
Will you listen to him, where's the
sense of fun gone, why has
everything got to be all gloom and
doom, you know, I haven't seen you
do the bat dance in ages!

BATMAN stands up and does the BAT DANCE. music Plays.

BATMAN
There you happy now?!?

JOKER
No! this smile is only painted on ,
I haven't been happy! not for
years!

JOKER runs out crying.

End.

I like it, I could imagine it being quite fun. Super hero relationship counselling is a good angle, perhaps take it a bit further and suggest Bat-man had been cheating on the Joker with the Penguin or an even lesser criminal... er Mr Freeze?

I'd have a slight concern that Bale's ridiculously deep voice has been parodied a lot already (and it's a fairly old topic at this point too). There was a specific sketch I'm thinking of where Batman interrogates the Joker that is hilarious and would be hard to top.

Anyway, I hope that helps.

Seen it all before, I'm afraid.

If you cover the names up, this could be Dr Evil talking to Scott Evil, in any one of the Austin Powers films.

The writing is perfectly good but I have to agree with Don, we've seen this setup before. And Batman parodies really are a dime a dozen - you have to do something really spectacular and original to raise yourself above the rest.

noted guys, I thought I may well have missed the moment with this. might still make it at some point, busy with another project atm....thanks to everyone for your thoughts.

Jon =]

Aforementioned unoriginality aside for the moment, here are my thoughts on the sketch.

The superhero counselling is a pretty good idea.
You dwell on the gravelly voice thing a bit much - make the joke and get on with something else.
I like the 'different person behind the cowl' gag.

It's a neato idea I've done a bunch of super psychotherapist superhero sketches.

And the writing is quite slick some nice lines.

But new batman is grumpy and hoarse is a bit of an old joke. Maybe add something new, the therapist is Superman>

Cheers guys, I'll have another little think about the piece and see if I can't do a bit of a rewrite. :)
