Count Arthur Strong Page 3
Oh yeah, I remember that.
He's not currently credited to anything else in our system.
He is without a doubt the funniest guy I have heard - ever- but, it is only through him making it to TV that we will know if he is actually as funny physically as Rigsby

I've just realised that I've laid down a rather innapropriate, and probably impossible challenge to Steve Delaney here, as Leonnard Rossiter didn't actually write Rising Damp, and therefore had more time to spend on getting his character portrayal spot on - so apologies to Steve Delaney - especially as he is a fantastic writer - I believe he has the 'writing comedy magic formula' hidden down the back of his sofa amongst the out of date milk and eggs.

Hi Gary. Thanks for posting. I'm very much looking forward to the TV series. Delaney has actually been perfecting the character for years, not just the writing but performing too - lots of live shows and some TV stuff as well, so he's got a good chance of being pretty funny physically.
Here's a clip from one of his live shows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3wFTBH4Uhw

I was just drawing attention to it as I got the SRO email earlier today.
I have just listened to a couple of episodes for the first time. I really don't get it at all. It just seems to be a man who confuses every second noun with something else. Alright, confusing Gordon Ramsay with Alf Ramsay is pretty funny, but not when that's pretty much all he does again and again for half an hour.
The oddest bit were that the audience seem to piss themselves every single time. Maybe narrative and character are not really that important to make an audience laugh then...

It takes a while to bed in. I too was rather perplexed by it at first, but stuck through the first few episodes (of Series 1) and found it growing on me. I'm not blown away by the show still, but there is some very enjoyable stuff to be found, and you're guaranteed at least a few good laughs in each episode.
Okay. I will keep listening rather than blanket delete them all from the mp3 player.
Dan
It may also help to listen to a batch at once, so you get 'in' the Count Arthur world properly, rather than breaking out of it after 28 minutes and having to return afresh and readjust later.
I've done two. I have 10 more queued up...
Dan
Stay with it - believe me it's worth it !
Many of us who love this show, started off not liking it. It takes getting used to.
I can't remember what I thought at first. Possibly perplexed.
I am now one of the ones that wets themselves though. He's amazing.
