All-Ireland Hurling Final 2010

Tipperary play Kilkenny in the All-Ireland Final this Sunday. It's shaping up to be a classic. Anyone else on here (presumably Irish) going watching this?

Can Tipperary stop Kilkenny from winning 5 All-Irelands in a row. I think we can. Come on Tipp!!

Heres a clip of Tipp's semi-final win over Limerick last year:

This is to do with throwing up right?

what the shit is this crazy sport ? It looked like rugby mixed with an egg and spoon race.

Rugby mixed with an egg and spoon race :D

It's an indiginous sport to Ireland where all 32 counties can compete. It has been played every year since 1888 to see who can become All-Ireland champions. You get 3 points for a goal and 1 point if it goes over the bar and between the posts.

It's the fastest land game in the world and absolutely fantastic to watch.

So I was right then ?

I wouldnt say right so much as wrong. The egg is only a very minor part of it ;)

Apparently ice hockey evolved from it when Irish emigrants moved to Canada and started playing it on the ice.

Tipperary for me, even though it's a long w... (sorry...)

Hope you're OK bud, will be in touch soon with update! :)

I knew I could count on the Ragemeister to be wearing the blue and gold of Tipp on Sunday :P

Am looking forward to the update. Cant wait to see what you've done with it.

What kind of mental do you have to be to be a goalkeeper in that sport ?

:O

Standing there while someone whacks the ball at you !

No wonder they never save any !

I played a concert in Tipperary Sunday evening (in the large church) and was souvenir hunting in Kilkenny on Monday where I bought a Kilkenny hurling shirt.

I saw Hurling on TV a few weeks ago, it was a simulcast of a game on RTE - it's brilliant! Batshit mental, but brilliant.

To be honest with you, when I first saw it, I just though they were making it up on the spot. It's like eight sports rolled into one.

Where in Tipp were you Roscoff? You could have called in. I'd have made you a cup of tea or we could have gone for a pint or something :D

Kilkenny is a nice city but when it comes to Sunday there will be no love lost. Skin and hair flyin'.

To Splodge. You're right, at 1st it might seem like random kicking and hitting but there are definite rules and is very entertaining to watch.

The Premiership is very popular in Ireland but during the summer months the Gaelic Football and Hurling take over.

I just turn up and play me but we were in a large church and it was for a local charity. Also playing were the C J Kickham Wind Band and a gospel choir. After the concert we had chicken chips, guiness and a sing song in the local pub :)
