So are we still calling her fat, or have we now moved on to ugly?

Now, now, Zooo.

Let's not get carried away.

Her weight is a matter of fact.

Her place on the ugly-beautiful spectrum is a matter of opinion.

Maybe her writing and acting could get a look in?

No?

Oh.

Then explain why she's never had a boyfriend.

Quote: Marc P @ December 20 2010, 9:57 AM GMT

It's because she doesn't realise herself her attractiveness.

No boy/man has ever wanted a relationship with her because she doesn't realise how attractive she is?

What ARE you talking about?

Writing = excellent.

Acting = excellent.

Happy now?

I agree.

But her awkwardness is derived from her excess weight.

It's down to many things, including her height and seeming inability to properly controll her limbs, not just her weight.

I'm talking about how the show is written Veronica, and what it is about. Like I say it is a comedy/drama staple. As it is Christmas - think about It's a Wonderful Life and you may see the point I am making.

No, Veronica, no. What are you talking about?

In this series alone she's had both the characters of Michael Landes and Tom Ellis after her.

Miranda's 'never having had a boyfriend' is essentially a quote from her mother, reporting on Miranda's lack of romantic involvement over the last 38 years. To have suddenly attracted two men after a 38-year life-long drought does not diminish the point I'm making.

However, I thank you for your responses to my posts, lady and gentlemen.

I'm not about to go head to head with Aaron.

I'm outa this thread now.

Byeee.

Er...

Yeh but they're not the only source are they.

In that case, they might replace her with Jodie Kidd.

Yeah. That'll work.

Image

No it won't work because Jodie Kidd isn't a talented comedy actress and writer like Miranda Hart.

The obsession with physical appearance of comediennes is depressing.

Miranda is a very talented performer, actress, writer who gets some extra mileage from her looks.

I mean Jillian McKeith looks like a Dalek covered in cheap leather and she's not even slightly funny.

And yet - although Gary arguably - neither are her boyfriend, so if we are to take her mother's assertion 100% literally, it still stands as correct. Which brings us right back round to what others were stating on the previous page: Miranda does have admirers and attractive qualities; the lack of romance in her life is, sadly, of her own making.

And because it's good for the script

URST is vital for most sitcoms

Poor lovely Miranda. I think she's lovely.

Did I mention how lovely she is?

She could do with losing a bit of weight.

A size 18 for someone who is 6 foot 1 is probably about the equivalent of a small size 14 on someone 5 foot 5 (national average). That's smaller than national average for dress size (which is now a large 14) but big for TV admittedly.

For me she looks the right build for her height.
