Alan Partridge Online Episodes - Good or Bad Idea? Page 9

From episode seven, during the second round of "What is Alan firing his shotgun at?"

AP: Third caller. What am I firing my shotgun at?
Caller: Dunno
AP: Did you ring earlier?
Caller: Yeah
AP: Unbelievable.

Laughing out loud

Really enjoyed this episode, even more so on second viewing. Classic Partridge from start to finish. The quality of the writing hasn't slipped at all and with this in mind we need another series of "I'm Alan Partridge". Sod doing a bloody film.

This is excellent. So many funny moments.

Hello,

Can anyone tell me more about Rob and Neil Gibbons (The mid morning matters writers).

I Googled the shit out of them but didn't have much joy.

Stef.

They might be brothers. They probably are.

Put Rob Gibbons into Google and got this top of the list. They're twins...

I shall be enjoying this later.

Rob and Neil Gibbons were in the first year of the BBC College of Comedy. They wrote episodes of Hounded and Hotel Trubble, and wrote on Steve Coogan's last live tour.

Good work. :) Were they mentored by Armando then, or got the gig by other means?

Armando was too busy in the end to mentor anyone, but Rob and Neil had developed a show with Henry Normal at Baby Cow.

Just watched episodes 7 & 8. This is turning out to be a glorious series and definitely a highlight in what has been (imo) a rather fallow period in British comedy.

"The world doesn't revolve around you... you're not the moon."

:D

Episode 8 (featuring the very talented Vicki Pepperdine, of Getting On fame - and Pippa Haywood from off that there Green Wing)

Not the strongest episode by any means, but liked Alan trying to do a Jeremy Paxman/Michael Howard on a local councillor. :)

Yes this really is very good indeed. Vintage AP. The shortness of the episodes leave you wanting more each time.

Wonder if they'll release a DVD at the end of its online run? In that format it might suffer from the claustrophobic feel of the radio studio and perhaps without some breaks of them outside of that environment could be a bit tedious.

But nevertheless as presented in these weekly bite-sized chunks it's ruddy marvellous.

Would you pay for a DVD if it was already free and easily accessible online though? Obviously it would be nice for us to all 'own' a bit more Alan so we could chronicle his career through The Day Today, Knowing Me, Knowing You, I'm Alan Partridge and beyond. I suppose if there's demand...

No, good point, but of course those sneaky & devious marketing types would probably 'add' content not available online and also it would be convenient to have it all to hand and bungable on the old telly box.

Well yeah; I could easilly get all the other Partridge stuff for free online, but I still bought the DVDs.

Good forum.

Ive been a fan of Steve Coogan for around 15 years and reckon he can do no wrong. His 'online radio show' was therefore a winner for me, but I felt the Fosters lager logo/advertising was a bit 'in your face'.

BTW. Alan Partridge Cartoons anyone?
I made a short YouTube video compilation of Alan Partridge clips for a laugh, the twist is Ive converted them into a cartoon style. Search YouTube for "Alan Partridge Funny Cartoons", or follow this link .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXSDLasCBfU
