Heres what I don't get. America is a Democratic Republic so why are the parties called Democrats and Republicans. They've both got what they wanted

I'm near the end of season 4 now, I've never seen a sketch show even half as good as this. Absolutely incredible.

That's one of my all time favourite sketches. I just hate to think of all the time it took to put up all those thimbles in between each take.
