Through an absurd circumstance (finding a case of cassettes in a bush) I have found off air recordings of two 1986 episodes of The News Huddlines. It's possible these are missing from the archive, and was wondering if anyone knew the correct place at the BBC to check and return them.
They aren't very funny, but well performed and a real time capsule.
Also, Radio 2 announcers weren't half formal back them. Makes 1986 sound a awfully long time ago!
They stopped being particularly open with regard to lost shows quite a few years ago, unfortunately. Try the remnants of the Treasure Hunt website - but I'd write or phone rather than e-mail; you're unlikely to get a response.
Are many shows from that period missing? I thought they stopped wiping tapes in the mid 70s.
TV, largely, yes. Radio shows kept on being wiped until the late 1980s I think. Sadly, some TV companies were still wiping well into the late 1990s.
