Hope and Glory

Hope and Glory was a BBC drama about a comprehensive school struggling with financial, staffing and disciplinary problems, and faced with closure. It starred Lenny Henry as maverick Superhead Ian George, enlisted to turn around the school's fortunes.

Does anybody remember this? A friend of mine recommended it but I've never heard of it. The DVDs are pretty cheep so I think I might buy the complete collection but anybody out there who can recommended it.

Yes I recall it. And I think it was quite good.

Worth getting on DVD?

Forgot about that. I thought it was a good show. Can't remember why it was axed now.

If it's cheap then get it, if you don't like it, sell it on ebay.

Thanks you two. I've decided to go for the DVD as it's only £7.99 for the complete collection of all three series.

Always liked Lenny Henry in straight roles.
Trying to remember an older role he did as a smack dealer with none of the villainous gangster clichés that usually accompany those parts. Ring any bells anyone?

He did a film call True Identity which involved him turning to crime. Is that the one?

I rather hoped this thread was about the great 80s film set in wartime Britain.
