It's pretty and reliable, and exactly the right weight.

Hey thanks Marc! Thats great.
Cool. You'll be pleased I didn't sing on it
I've also bought myself a little present. A Roland R-05 field recorder. I can now record myself at home and myself when talking on stage.
I also have a Shure SM58 but I think for vocals, the Sennheiser Evolution e845s is better. And it's cheaper.
How much did it cost, I just bought a portable microphone and it set me back 300 quid!
I'll try and find out more about apple copyright issues. Lee may well know more.
£179.00 And its easy to use. Which makes it great for me.
I went with the Zoom H4n as I want to use it making shorts and the like. It's stereo. So good for conversations. It seemed to get good reviews everywhere.

This Lee hasn't a clue. Not sure about the other one. I'm guessing it is though, otherwise why would they bundle it with it and give you the option to directly upload to YouTube, etc?
Looks good Marc. As the man in the shop said,"You get what you pay for". Although I didn't go for cheapest option this time. I was quite proud of myself. Yours also has a 16BG card. Mine only has 2!
So what do you need it for, are you starting speaking as well?

Actually mine was bundled with a few other things as well, remote control microphone stand wind shield so it was a good deal in the end I reckon.
No not speaking as such, I have done some audio bits of cmedy in the past and songs, but this is mainly to go with a camera I am going to buy to make short films - maybe even a long one!
Quote: billwill @ August 11 2010, 1:38 AM BSTWhen you use an audio CD creation program such as Nero, it accepts various sound formats and converts them to the format of an Audio CD, which is an uncompressed format roughly like a .WAV file.
So you might as well keep speech recordings as MP3 files to save space on your hard disk.
As I said Bill, it depends what he's using the speech files for. If it's for pro purposes he's far better off exporting the audio files as raw WAVS because mp3s - as handy and small as they are - aren't as good quality due to the compression. If it's just for a home project though, export as mp3.

AVIs are usually video files aren't they?

THe SM58's a great knockabout giggy mic - I've had mine for years and it's been dropped, stepped on, spat into etc. Still going strong. For a more pro studio sound though a decent condenser mic should be considered.
Hah - just found this on the Shure SM58 - shure is a tough bit of kit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33QPLbQi9FI

Well yeah but you can strip the sound from them!
I export as wav, convert to mp3 and use music from stuff I have already had recorded or get my lovely friend to play something. You need to make friends with some musicians.
I have tried unsuccesfuly to record a fart for my message tone.
