The hey wouldn't it be funky if RPG characters realised they were in a game. That was in every copy of White Dwarf/Dragon/Barbarian wank warrior for like 8 years. Alternating with barbarians play an RPG where they pretend to be accountants.

Really? Because I was one of them too (I guarantee you I can name more Citadel paint colours than you - let;s start with Hobgoblin Orange...) and I recall this only as a joke that used to go around my tabletop. I certainly don't remember seeing it in a White Dwarf, and I had a stack of those about three feet high. I'm not saying it's the most mind-blowing of concepts but I really can't recall having seeing it in print.

Interesting point about the lack of movement from the characters. I actually like the way they just sit there and stare out at us, but then I'm a fan of comic artists like Max Cannon who employ a lot of repetition in their panels.
