Torchwood... Page 43

Although some of the Doctor Who's on Radio 4 Extra at the moment are pretty decent.
But, yes, radio plays generally are pointless excercises in safe, liberal sentimental pap.

Far too many of them are ultra depressing. I turned one on a few days ago, which was about a woman whose bloke was in a vegetative state, she tried to put him out his misery, failed, got arrested, then it all got dragged through court...and that was all in the few minutes I gave it before I switched it off.
Quote: chipolata @ May 24 2011, 11:30 AM BSTMarc P's gratuitous mention of RTD reminds me that there are three new Torchwood plays on Radio 4 this week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), probably as a precursor to the new series starting soon. I listened to the Hadron-Collider Torchwood play and even though it was technically poor I still quite enjoyed it.
They are repeats and sadly not too difficult to work out what is going on type repeats.
Radio drama depends on how good the writer is. I think its a tougher medium because you can't fall back upon the visuals to bail you out of a literary corner. The Marlowe season a few weeks back with Toby Stephens was brilliant.
Some safe to read, non-spoilery thoughts from a reviewer who has seen the first three episodes:
Torchwood: Miracle Day will premiere in the UK on July 14, the BBC has confirmed.
A spokesperson recently confirmed that the first episode of the ten-part sci-fi drama will air in a Thursday night slot at 9pm.
The series, a co-production between the BBC and cable network Starz, will premiere in the US six days earlier, on Friday, July 8.
So it's one episode a week instead of one every day, like Children of Earth.
How daaaaaaaaaaare America have it first?
What if I read spoilers?
Are Welsh Woman and Captain Fat the only remaining ones from the original series?

I'll take that as a yes!

Something to do with RTD now being LA based and BBC America money going into it?

See if it works that way. Loved Children of Earth but I doubt the Beeb would broadcast it over five nights now as the corporation really seem to have lost any flair for scheduling.

Her husband is still in it, and the comic relief cop she used to work with who would turn up from time to time.
I'm looking forward to it. How many episodes? 10ish?
10, yeah.
