Which is easier to break into, TV or film?

Which would you say is the easier industry to break into, writing for TV or movies?

I know that "easier" isn't really the word, more like "ever-so-slightly-less-excrutiatingly-impossible" to break into, in the same way that walking to Mars is easier than moonwalking there.

I had an idea that it was easier to have a movie script sold, then you would have a background to show when trying to have a series commissioned on TV. Then again, I DID just knee myself in the face.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.
Peter.

Depends.

There's far more television than there are films so TV might be easier from that point of view. Do films pay more? If so then you'd probably be up against stiffer competition there as well in a supply and demand stylee.

It probably depends whether you are talking about a tiny film or quite a long film with a cinema release. It is a lot easier to get a small film produced and shown at a local venue than to get on TV, but that's probably not what you want.
There may be local showcases of talent, say this STV opportunity which is probably the easiest way to get into TV. Also film has much more competition to get in than TV (though TV is much more popular than theatre and radio).

Radio.

Internet.

Internet.

You don't even need to break in, all the doors are wide open.

Somebody should shut them really. It's quite shocking what's out there.
