You can probably do what you like on the ones nobody listens to like 1Xtra.

Don't call Richard Blackwood's mum a nobody!

Cheers for that Griff, very interesting.

How the the T**tting sh*t can 'Jew' be on that list but 'Bitch' isn't?

'Cos we Jews are rock. Bitch.

He really was, he played it really well. Perhaps one of the few times JNT'S stunt casting really paid off. Apart from Hale And Pace, obviously.

Ah. Hale and Pace. The cat in Survival was possibly more convincing than those two.

This thread's blocked to me because of the choice language. I shan't even be able to read this post.

One point, if you have to swear to get a laugh you're not much of a writer.

I once co-wrote and performed a sketch called 'F**king C**t'. What do you think of that then?

Oh no, you won't be able to read this.

I know you've said something, but I can't read it until later.

Swearing can be funny though. The Thick Of It would be poorer without it. But yes, you shouldn't have to swear to be funny. You carwash c**t.

A friend of mine, an incredibly talented jazz drummer, once told me his first band was called 'The C**ts'. Apparently their hit single was 'Come Take a Ride in the F**k Truck'.

Laughing out loud

You know David Cameron?

Swearing can be incredibly funny, but doesn't always make something funny. It depends on how it is used and delivered.

Chubby Brown for example, I feel is painfully unfunny and relies purely crassness to get laughs.

There are however, so many comedians and writers who can bring out the real beauty in expletives by using it with wit and intelligence.

Personally, I like swearing because it doubles my vocabulary

Trabs, I think with Radio 4, it's best to not bother with any swears at all, even light ones, not if you're sending stuff in on spec, for example.

The only show on Radio 4 that I've heard swearing on (Bollocks and Bastard, for example) is on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. They seem to get away with it on there, despite it's broadcast time of Sunday mid-day.

They get away with it because it's seen amongst Radio 4 bosses that they've "earned it". Their audience knows exactly what to expect.
