Remember when he did stand up? What did you think?
Mark Lamarr
I really enjoyed that weekly show he had on BBC 2, years ago, but the one-off stand up shows I've seen him do have been pretty poor.
I remember a story about him doing a show in Liverpool's Neptune theatre, years ago, where an audience member shouted something about him being crap, and he agreed with the heckler and suggested they all leave the theatre and walk to a comedy club, on the other side of the city centre, to watch the comedians who were on there instead. The audience then stood up and Lamarr led them all through the streets to the club. Luckily the small theatre had been less than half full, so they all managed to squeeze into the club.
I kinda liked one live show he did. And when I catch his radio show, his taste in music makes me happy.
Shit.
He's an aquired taste, and best in small doses.
I read something yesterday where Sean Hughes was talking about how he left Buzzcocks because he became aware that he was too complicit in Mark Lamarr's bullying.
He was funny, I thought though. And co-wrote some of 15 Storeys under a pseudonym.

And didn't he appear as an angry silver robot/statue in one?

That is true, yes. In a second series ep if I recall.
He did begin to get on my nerves a bit on NMTB but I think that's because he got bored with what he was doing.
I do love his music shows though because he is so obviously enthusiastic about what he plays.
Mark before he was famous http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqaqGCyl2Kw
He was good when he filled in for Jonathan Ross on his radio show. I had no interest in Ross, but the two Marks were worth making ear-space for.
Had no idea he did stand up, but I thought he was great on NMTB,
much funnier than Simon because he was good at making jokes out of what was going on, where as Simon would often produce a card and go 'I read that you...' to a guest to get the audience to laugh which I didnt like as much.
His radio show is good but not really the music I listen to - but you can see how much he loves music and how knowledgable he is about it.
he was funny on Room 101 too.
