British Comedy Guide

Just finished Bleak Expectations. What's next?

Looking for other radio comedies.

Thanks.

Milton Jones, Clare in the Community, Ed Reardon's Week and Cabin Pressure are all great. Check out the "Current Radio Comedy" thread for more ideas.

What ones have you already tried?

Hut 33
Count Arthur Strong's Radio Show!
Nebulous
Think the Unthinkable
Old Harry's Game
The Lost Weblog of Scrooby Trevithick
Miranda Hart's Joke Shop

Cabin Pressure is great.

Cabin Pressure is great.

It is indeed, and Hut 33.

But if Bleak Expectations was appreciated ..The Wordsmiths At Gorsemere might go down well too.

Hut 33 has some simply superb class and north/south jokes, but leaves me cold and otherwise isn't very funny at all. IMO.

I sort of see Hut 33 and Cabin Pressure as similar, small enclosed situation, class war in a quiet way (well not so quiet sometimes) but when the chips are down they help each other. "I might be wrong skip..but.."

"Elephants To Catch Eels", is another period comedy set in Cornwall and the smuggling classes.

Great! Thanks guys. I have a lot to look forward too.

Anything by Andy Hamilton:
Old Harry's Game (set in Hell, so some of the topical references to teh recently deceased might pass you by)
Trevor's World of Sport (about a sports agent, so some UK sporting references that might be obscure)
Revolting People (perhaps the weakest, but the US War of Independence setting might appeal.

Otherwise Bleak Expectations apart, Clare in the Community and Linda Smith's A Brief History of Time Wasting are about the only modern radio sitcom I find listenable.

For an all time classic try Hancock's Half Hour.
