Wasn't it only commissioned for the BBC's 'Outdoors' season, anyhow?
I think it fitted in nicely with the season they were planning, but I'm not sure that it was made just for it. I did think it felt very much like a one-series curio than a long-running successful series though.

The Radio Times highlights the BBC4 repeat on Saturday this week and notes there's "no decision yet" on whether there'll be a second series. Would suspect we'd have heard something by now, though, so it might just have been 'not recommissioned' rather than cancelled.
I loved this show and hope it does come back for more. The decision on whether it returns may just be down to budget... it has previously been reported that BBC Four will have little money for comedy going forward, as it concentrates more on arts and stuff. Getting On is coming back... which might be most of the channel's comedy money used up now, not sure.
Missed this first time around but I caught it last night, a couple of genuine laugh out loud moments for me.
Which was three more than John Bishop's Britain. 
Very enjoyable little gem - watched in early 2011 when shown on BBC Two. Shame just the 3 episodes!
I'm watching the series currently on DVD. I caught the first episode on BBC4 back in 2010, but didn't find it particularly hilarious then. I like the concept and the performances are good, but it's lacking basic hilarity.
Some of the bizarre conversations remind me of the Meetup group I'm a member of ...
I was only thinking about this yesterday. I remember thinking it was hilarious. Such a shame they didn't make more.
