Common sitcom episode scenarios

One that I've seen quite a bit of lately is the 'Trying to be in two places at once - usually two dates, two meals' senario. Ones that I can think or that have used this that I've seen fairly recently are...

- Hi-De-Hi! - Where Gladys had to have the same meal three times. This was a 10/10 episode for me. Very polished.
- Goodnight Sweetheart - Just saw this, where Gary had to be in two times at the same time.
- The Vicar Of Dibley - Where she had Christmas dinner several times.
- And I've just seem a Brush Strokes episode where Jacko had two dates at opposite ends of the pub at the same time.

It's bound to have been used a lot more too.

But yes, it obviously works.

Here's another one; the protagonist overhears only part of a conversation,he gets the wrong idea, and the rest of the episode details the hilarious consequences.

Very common that last one, o how that kept many a mediocre sitcom going.

Another one from the glorious 70s - A date or event is double booked, usually ensuing in two characters who don't get along ending up having to share the evening together.

Only 97 more and we've got a definintive top 100 list. Geek

Another; someone leaves an answerphone message, then realises that they've unwittingly divulged something secret, and they then need to deal with it; either by breaking in and wiping the message, or by recording a series of messages, which unfortunately make the situation increasingly bad.
