I think I hope I said something like Communication Problems from Fawlty Towers

Seconded.

Although the wedding ep from Peep Show is pretty good.

And the first ep of series two of The Office.

And Hancock's Sunday Afternoon.

Can't we have a top ten? No? Ok, Communication Problems it is.

I think we should have a top 100. I'd have ten Falwty Towers eps in the top 20. Probably.

Blackadder III - Amy and Amiability.

"I love 'er more than any pig..."

Best sitcomedy drama episode: the episode of Love Soup where we discover that Gil has died, and they can never meet. :(:(:(:(:(

(I just rewatched it.)

I came across Love Soup on DVD the other day. Didn't even know it was out!

Will have to buy soon

"I love 'er more than any pig..."

Never liked that episode much. At all.

For me, it must have to be Steptoe and Son - Divided We Stand. Where they split the house right down the middle, putitng a turnstile at the front door.

Also, Hancock's "Lord Byron Lived Here" is an absolute classic, the highlight of which is in my sig.

I have just watched the Fawlty Towers episode Waldorf Salad. Surely that has to be up there as one of the greatest sitcom episodes. It's brilliant from start to finish with so many excellent lines. It is one of the best, if not the best sitcom episode of all time.

Communication Problems is right up there but I'd also say Bells from Blackadder II. Lots of great lines such as...

"You're just an old quack aren't you"
"I'd rather be a quack than a ducky"

I'm of the opinion that the first series of 'Blackadder' was quite poor with only Brian Blessed on top form. I also think the first half of 'Bells' from 'Blackadder II' was a bit lame, then enter Lord Flasheart and the show was amazing from that point onwards 'So Melchett. You still worshipping God. Last I heard you were worshipping me'

The Desperate Hours (take your pick from Steptoe and Porridge, both brilliant episodes).

Hear hear. The Steptoe episode is a work of unsurpassed genius. Also, the pilot episode of 'Frasier' is, for a pilot episode, quite remarkable.

To Kill A Mocking Alan from I'm Alan Partridge. The one with Alan's biggest fan.

Like that 'un too.

That's actually my least favourite ep of FT. Great of course but I felt the story and dialogue aren't quite as fast and sparkling as, say, 'Gourmet Night' or 'the Germans'. The first ep's slower too but that's normal, you're introducing the viewer.
I adore the final 2 'Young Ones' but that isn't a traditional sitcom so... Hell, any FT except those two!

I'm in the minority but my favourite series of Blackadder was the first. After that it got too clever-little-me, and every bleedin' line got repeated round the common room next day! Not their fault of course but what a pain.

The Brittas Empire - The Trial

I watched that the other night for the first time since I saw it originally broadcast. it is indeed one of the best..

I've been re-watching all of Blackadder recently in order to compile a new BCG guide to the show, and maintain that The Black Adder (Series 1) is just as good as any of the rest - just very different in style and tone.

I was only talking about this episode to someone last night it's a real classic. There's not many sitcoms where the main characters accidentally kills a whole gang of gangsters and it's still funny.
