Comedians entertain an audience by inviting them to laugh. That can be on stage or screen. Seems the women Todd's listed fit the bill.

I think it's a tricky definition. I would probably use the term comedian in regards to stand-ups/sketch people really.
Hmmm, I can see how there might in an argument in which you were wrong.

With a signature like that I'd offer to be your agent, but with me it'd be more likely to be 50% of nothing, so...
You're not an agent yourself I take it?

Thank you (I think).
Recently introduced to the treat that is Pauline Melville - very funny to watch. I had seen her before in small parts before really realising who she was and what she did. I also think Jenny Eclair is pretty hysterical.
Maria Bamford. She is funny.
Josie Lawrence used to be incredible on Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
This looks quite interesting. I always enjoy these shows.

Looks like a visit to a certain radio orientated download site once the series has finished !
It would have been nice to have a fourth American programme for Gracie Allen.
Quote: amin @ July 18 2010, 10:24 PM BSTIs it just me or does anyone else think female comedians and females in general are just not funny?
Is that because they have no balls?
I expect male humans find female humans less funny, due to gender issues.
Whilst female humans find men funny regardless.
Personally, I prefer to amuse oneself.

I'm not sure if that is entirely correct, it depends how a man conducts oneself in front of the female gender. Men don't find women funny possibly because of their topics, or men just can't relate to woman in anyway (except the obvious).
Men find funny women funny, just like women find funny men funny.

Unless they're arseholes with chips on their shoulders, then they don't even give them a chance.
Lisa Lampanelli does it for me, she's hilarious
