Conveyor Belt

INT. 'JAPANESE' RESTAURANT (YO SUSHI)- DAY

JON (MID 20's, SCRUFFY BUT GOOD-LOOKING) IS SAT AT THE SUSHI CONVEYOR BELT. HE LOOKS UP AND TAKES A PLATE, AS HE DOES SO HE NOTICES KARA (20's, ATTRACTIVE) PREPARING FOOD IN THE CENTRE. AFTER STARING AMOROUSLY JON SCRIBBLES A NOTE AND SENDS IT DOWN THE CONVEYOR BELT. KARA PICKS UP THE NOTE AND READS IT. SHE SMILES AND LOOKS DOWN COYLY.

JON SCRIBBLES ANOTHER NOTE AND PLACES IT ON THE CONVEYOR BELT. KARA SPOTS THE NOTE, READS IT AND LAUGHS HALF-HEARTEDLY THEN RESUMES CHOPPING.

JON REPEATS THE METHOD. KARA READS THE NOTE, SHE LOOKS CONFUSED AND RAISES AN EYEBROW IN PARTIAL SURPRISE THEN RESUMES CHOPPING.

JON HAS A LITTLE THINK THEN REPEATS THE METHOD. KARA PICKS UP THE NOTE AND LOOKS UP AT JON DISGUSTEDLY THEN CONTINUES CHOPPING.

JON FROWNS THEN SCRIBBLES ANOTHER NOTE AND SENDS IT DOWN THE BELT. KARA READS IT THEN PICKS UP A KNIFE JUMPS OVER THE COUNTER AND REPEATEDLY STABS JON. HE FLOPS ON THE FLOOR COVERED IN BLOOD, KARA THROWS THE NOTE ON HIS CHEST.

CAMERA PANS IN ON THE PIECE OF PAPER WE SEE IT IS A LITTLE DRAWING OF A SMILY STICK MAN ON A BOAT WAVING.

END OF SKETCH

I don't get this.

I like the message on the conveoyr belt joke.

But the rest I don't understand.

Blimey, I'm not doing very well lately (ever)! It's just meant to be an escalation in how she reacts to his unseen messages then at the end she reacts as if he has written something truly despicable but then we see what the note actually was. Does that make sense? :S

I kinda guessed that. But it doesn't feel like a natural enough progression.

Perhaps a gag as simple as man eating at a conveyor belt. Plate comes round with message reading "help I'm a prisoner in a sushi kitchenn?"

Thank Sooty, you ledge. :)

Now confused by the discussion as well as by the sketch.

:D Laughing out loud :( Smarmy
