Because if it goes in too far, which can happen if a woman has careless intercourse while using a tampax, it may otherwise be difficult to remove.

I never thought men farting was amusing until I heard Trey Parker and Matt Stone (South Park creators) tell a story of when they first became famous, they would go to a bar where Hollywood celebrities hung out, sidle up alongside someone like Sean Penn and then let off a huge fart.

Slave to fashion? I have a similar problem with my new Doc Marten boots, the right one of which has caused a large blister on my heel as I'm wearing them in. But after a month of discomfort they should be good and painless for six years, by which time the soles will require restitching.
