I thought that episode was pretty good.
Still love the Event sketches best. And I really liked the whole sod cancer series of sketches today. Poor dead James.

I think I preferred The Event sketches when you didn't know what was out there.
Pretty good this week.
'Mock the Event' was probably the funniest bit.
Cleanlinol is next to Godlinol. C'mon, that was funny.
Yes, I enjoyed the Cyrano spoof (isn't Sarah Hadland brilliant?), the fishmonger sketch was on the money, it was good to see the brothers back on their enormous yacht, and killing off James was very funny. Even the baby sketch went somewhere. Only Hennimore left me cold.
It's nice to see the Blackadder ending come in for some abuse. I'm with them on the 'mawkish' comment, and I never understood WTF it has to do with comedy.
Some good stuff on the red button again: That Bachman and Evans Smell; Richard Dawkins next book deal; ghostwriting.
I can see why they dropped German Dad's Army, but I do wonder if perhaps some material has been omitted to avoid controversy rather than on grounds of quality.

Say what? Dear God.
I find it a bit mawkish too.

Incredible.
Unbelievable.
I still like it. And it's sad and all that. All the Blackadders had weird endings whose mood didn't fit the rest of the show, so it would have been strange if the ending hadn't been odd somehow.
But it's still slightly mawkish.
Go stroke a cat!
Okay!

Trouble is, the jokes Mitchell and Webb spun out from that observation were patchy. The end joke with the dead cast member was good, but the bit where they go slow-mo and scream because they've run out of hot water was cringey.
As for the Blackadder finale, I liked it a lot. However, you could argue it opened the door to Curtis doing that hideous Africa-starving bit in the Vicar of Dibley when all the cast turned to stare somberly at the camera. God, that was awful.
