Shooting Stars - Series 7 Page 3

Well that was rather funny, wasn't it? Loved it.

I think that was the most I've laughed in a long time. Really enjoyed it!

I enjoyed it. There's nothing new here, and I missed Matt Lucas, but it was good fun.

They've still got it, as silly as ever; I hope they get to do a new sketch show soon; which according to an interview I read the other day, is what they want to do.

Never heard of 'The Hairy Bikers' or Shirley from EastEnders?

As much as I like them, I wouldn't fancy a sketch show by them. Not that I think they'd be given one. Not after Catterick failed.

That was one show several years ago. And it certainly didn't fail as a show, it's probably my favourite thing out of everything they've done, it just didn't find a large audience. Though I can't imagine anyone thought it would, really, it was pretty mental stuff. I'd certainly prefer to see them given a new sketch show over most of the ones that we've had to suffer through in recent times.

It had its fans, but I think the consensus was that it didn't really work.

It was? I've never heard that. Huh. Silly. Twas brilliant.

A new sketch show wouldn't be anything like Catterick, it would be like their old sketch shows and the mini sketches they still do on Shooting Stars! ie brilliant.

Anyway, great show. Loved the walking trousers, the new set, and Angelos.

If you like a show you tend to become blind to its faults. It's quite sweet. ;)

It couldn't be that I, and others, just liked something you didn't think much of? No. Silly. Of course not.

You missed the point zooo. I think Shooting Stars works so well because it's Vic and Bob diluted. You still get wonderfully mad ideas, but they're tied to a pretty rigid gameshow format that makes them more accessible. Take that framework away and you're left with them disappearing up their own arses, as with Catterick. I love them, but given too much freedom they can produce some shockingly self-indulgent twaddle.

Really enjoyed tonight's episode but I always enjoy anything Vic and Bob. Look forward to next week's episode.

I can understand you not liking Catterick. But have you seen Bang Bang and Smell Of? And you didn't like them??

That's what they want to do again, as they've said. And as much as I love Shooting Stars, I would love much more a show without the bits you say you want. I don't want dilution!
