Like I said, I've never played Roulette, but are you sure you wouldn't make a profit using that system?

Also, I know there's just as much chance of the ball landing in a number twice-in-a-row, as there is for it to land on a different number, but, I bet if you played the game regularly, you'd notice that twice-in-a-row was a pretty rare occurance, probably happening about once every hour, on average.

On average I can tell you it happens once every 37 spins.

Not only wouldn't you be likely to make a profit, it's impossible to make one. Each spin there are two possibilities - you have the winning number covered or you don't.
If you don't, you have staked 36 so you lose 36.
If you do, you have staked 36 and have a bet of 1 winning at 35/1 so you get 36 back and win nothing.

So I put it on spilts mainly 2/5 the best one is the 17 combos.

14/17
20/17
16/17
18/17

Eh?

There is a system in Roulette but it gets monitored in casinos.

But it does work.

Eh?

You don't have to just bet on one number, you can put one chip on two.

so with four chips you can cover

14/17
16/17
18/17
20/17

If 14 or 16 or 18 or 20 comes up you win 1 chip x 17 = 17 chips

If 17 comes up you win 4 chips x 17 = 68 chips.

If you want to double your money at roulette your best chance is to plonk all your cash straight on one of the evens chances. Of course there is a better than 50:50 chance that you will lose it all in one go.

Agreed.

I've been doing very nicely the last few months though.

There's a lot of big casinos and very few rich gamblers.

There are certain Roullette tactics but the odds are always in favour of the Bank as with all gambling games.

One tactic that I read about was betting on an evens chance say red for example.
If you win then leave the table if you lose then double your stake on the next go.
This does depend on a limitless pot of cash though.. so it's not really practical.

The best way is to know exactly how much you are prepared to happily lose and then decide how much you want to win before you walk away.
And keep to that.

Yeah, that's called the Martingale system.

I like Penny Waterfalls in seaside arcades. In fact the only time I ever gamble is in those places. They're casinos for cheap bastards.

Even if I was a real high-roller, I don't think I would trust casios enough to bet really big on roulette. I'd always be worried that they had a secret button to press, to prevent them losing really big amounts, to make sure the ball lands on a particular group of numbers, or a particular colour.

When I used to bet on football, I mostly used to just wait for sure things to come along, then bet big, rather than go crazy, betting on long-shots.

Oh dear. Road to ruin. What makes it less likely for a number to come up on the next spin, just because it came up on the last?

The other thing is, there are 37 numbers (or 38 on American roulette) but you only get 35/1 for getting a number up. So even if you did get your "win" you would just be getting your stake back.

Well you have better odds if you play odds, evens, black or red.

There are a few more like playing between 1 - 12 but it's been a while since I've played roulette, but it's a bit shit really, it's just glorified high card imo.

At least with something like poker there's a bit of skill with it or blackjack you have to use your head a bit and most of the time get to be a deciding factor on the outcome of the bet.

Roulette is actually very clever. Because you can bet on anything between evens and 35 to 1. Clever to have devised a game that allows that range of bets of one event.

High card with a few bells and whistles then. It's still mindless boring gambling, hence why most of my friends do it when they're off there head.

Only if you are playing at a casino where you only lose half your stake when zero comes in. Otherwise it's the same average return. Out of every 37 spins on average you will double your money 18 times, and lose 19 times. So out of 37 spins at 1 chip a go you get 36 chips back.
