Hmm, which team to bet on for this summer's Euros?

You could spread your stake on the two favourites to get evens to your money:

Spain @ 11/4 = 53.5%

Germany @ 7/2 = 44.25%

= 97.75%

If either one wins, you (slightly more than) double your total stake: you'll get back 200%.

I'm seeing numbers... I'm recalling maths GCSE... I'm walking out

But thanks for trying :)

I agree. That may as well have been written in Hindi for all it meant to me.

But how come all the drunken old scroats from Weatherspoons seem to understand it?

Probably the reason they're in Weatherspoons at 10 in the morning.

We obviously need to start drinking at Wetherspoons at 10 in the morning to grasp the complexities of mathematical-money-making

You lot...

I dunno..

It's really simple. Say you want to bet £10..

Bet £5.35 on Spain @ 11/4

Bet £4.43 on Germany @ 7/2

= £9.78

You could add the missing 0.22p.. split between each team..

= £10 bet

Returns £20+ if either team wins = double your money.

Sorry, my brain rebels when I try to make it look at numbers. I'm sure it's a splendid explanation

Why wouldn't one put £5 on each?

I know, I know!

Oh me too, but not to the extent I'll put money on it.
I wonder, is it a particularly female thing or is it just that the people I watch footie with are mostly female friends so we think similarly, that it's really hard to separate club v country?
I of course always support England and can put rivalries aside, but if someone playing for England has been a c**t in general or against my team, I'm too embarrassed and disappointed to support them in an England shirt

Like Rooney for instance?

It always amazes me too.

Are you in Weatherspoons now?

Can't believe I just backed Kauto Star at 4/1 ?!

Don't believe the stories

Nowt wrong with him I reckon

4/1??

Lump on!

I don't think he will run. Still you get your money back.

I am not much of a betting man but I was given a tip on Thursday for Saturday by a friend of the owner of the horse. He and I were told 'get on early for the best price'

I don't like going in bookmakers shops so I opened an online account just to have this bet. (paddypower.com) I deposited £20 and placed the lot on this horse 'Ikorodu Road '

It won but more fluke than management - the leading horse fell at the last fence and mine got home to win at 3/1 I think.
But I had 8/1 on thursday so that was a nice win.

And as a bonus that I didn't know about, I looked at my account and it has £180 winnings plus a free £20 bet ( a joining tempter I think)
So I shall take my £180 and have a free £20 bet.

Invested the £20 free bet on spurs at 2/1 - come on you Spurs :)

Oh well.

The better return won! One out of two ain't bad!

Never bet against man ure

The f**kers will always screw you over
